Software is Cool

On 27 November, the University of Zielona Góra’s auditorium hosted the next edition of the Software is Cool conference by Digital Technology Poland. The event offered more than just presentations, it served as a great opportunity to learn from three well-known Polish speakers. Piotr Konieczny, Janina Bąk, and Łukasz Konopka shared their insights, offering the audience valuable takeaways from different areas and viewpoints.

Dr. Andrew Szajna, Deputy CEO of DTP, opened the conference. He provided an overview of the concept of Industry 4.0, highlighting innovations in control cabinet building. Dr. Szajna also talked about DTP’s operations, showcasing the company’s role in the manufacturing process and its efforts for future advancements.

Piotr Konieczny from niebezpiecznik.pl, a Polish website and company dedicated to internet security and promoting safe online practices, did a great job of making the audience realize that they are actually not safe in the Internet world. He then explained why cybersecurity is important and how to be protected from attacks.

Two-factor authentication (2FA) is the key to staying safe on the Internet. We can set the strongest password, which might still not be enough to protect ourselves. With 2FA, we can add one more layer of security to log in.

– Piotr Konieczny

After a short break, the audience was hooked by an interesting story about numbers: how to visualise, interpret, and discuss data. All of these were presented by Janina Bąk, author of the bestselling books on statistics, founder of the blog Janina Daily, and a renowned speaker at marketing conferences, such as I Love Marketing and TEDx.

Statistics don’t lie, it’s people who lie about statistics. Statistics are useful for absolutely everything, from trying to estimate who is going to win the presidential election to checking which packaging color works better. Medicine, technology, science, marketing, advertising – we can use statistics everywhere.”

– Janina Bąk

Our last guest at the conference was Łukasz Konopka, the voice of Netflix, Eurosport, Discovery Channel, Fox, HBO, and many more. He explained the importance of communication, vocal delivery, and understanding, also providing guidance on how to speak to be heard.

““Playing around with your voice, intonation, gestures and emotions is the key to making sure listeners take you seriously. Remember; If you speak better and more consciously, you’ll feel more confident and your relationship with the other person will be more effective.”

– Łukasz Knopek Konopka

We are excited to see what future editions of Software is Cool will bring. This year’s event provided valuable knowledge for the audience, from practical insights on cybersecurity and data interpretation to effective communication techniques. We are looking forward to seeing all of you again!
