The tradition continues.
On 12-13 June 2026, the final of Potyczki Algorytmiczne once again brought top competitive programmers to Zielona Góra, where they competed for the title of Algorithmic Champion 2026 and joined a wider community of students, engineers, researchers, and software professionals during the accompanying Software is COOL conference.
Potyczki Algorytmiczne is one of Poland’s longest running and most prestigious programming competitions. Known for its challenging algorithmic problems and high level of competition, it attracts some of the country’s most talented programmers, testing not only their technical expertise but also their creativity, efficiency, and ability to perform under pressure.
The competition is held in several stages, starting with remote qualifying rounds that allow participants from across Poland to take part. Each year, Potyczki Algorytmiczne attracts more than 1,200 participants, including experienced programmers, students, pupils, and algorithmics enthusiasts. The best contestants advance to the on-site final, where they face the most demanding tasks and compete for the top places in the ranking.
During the final, contestants tackled a series of demanding challenges designed to evaluate their algorithmic thinking, programming expertise, and decision-making under time constraints. This year’s title of Algorithmic Champion went to Mateusz Radecki, with Wojtek Nadara taking second place and Yahor Dubovik finishing third.
As in previous years, the competition final was accompanied by Software is COOL, DTP’s technology conference dedicated to knowledge sharing and connecting students, software developers, and engineering professionals.
The conference opened with the Scene for Youth, a program created to inspire the next generation of technology talent. Attendees heard from Professor Krzysztof Diks of the University of Warsaw, a respected computer science educator and mentor to numerous international informatics olympiad medalists. His keynote explored the surprising connection between the Dutch national flag and efficient sorting algorithms.
One of the highlights of the event was a live problem-solving session led by Rafał Sobolewski, winner of the 20th Junior Informatics Olympiad, and Jakub Rożek, a finalist of this year’s Potyczki Algorytmiczne. Together, they demonstrated how olympiad-level programming challenges are tackled in practice.
The Software is COOL stage also featured DTP experts, who shared insights from projects delivered as part of the company’s everyday engineering work. Several of these solutions were previously recognized at Eplan Next26, a new global engineering event organized by Eplan.
The conference concluded with a presentation by Professor Oskar Skibski of the University of Warsaw, who explored the fascinating journey of coalition games from ancient thought to modern artificial intelligence.
Events such as Potyczki Algorytmiczne and Software is COOL show how much can happen when experienced professionals, emerging talent, and future innovators meet in one place. As the host of the competition final and organizer of the conference, Digital Technology Poland continues to support a community built around knowledge, ambition, and a shared passion for technology.
See you next year!
